Life and times of Major William Wirt Webb in Mandarin, Florida. Webb moved to Florida after the Civil War and became a farmer and citrus grower at his home on the St. Johns River, joining others who settled there, including author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Includes history and description of Mandarin in the latter half of the 19th century, including the 1864 sinking of the US transport steamship Maple Leaf, whose shipwreck site is now a National Historic Landmark.
